In Memory

Posey Cholewa (Robinson)

Posey Cholewa (Robinson)

Our dear Rosemary “Posey” Cholewa Robinson died at home April 17, 2023.

Born November 10, 1941, in Highland Park, she lived on Oakwood and attended Lincoln School.

She spent the last 25 winters in Bermuda Dunes, Calif., and the summers in Park Ridge.  She enjoyed her family, golf, cards, bocce, and any event that was about shoes. She courageously battled throat cancer for the past 15 years.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband William of 61 years, her sisters Ellen Cholewa, Ginny Moss (Gary);  her children William III (Laura), Michael (Lisa), and Jennifer Whelan (Keith); grandchildren William (Jeanette), Christopher (Kaitlin), Samuel (Alina), Jack, Tona Marie (Dave), Kimberly  (Matthew), Kylie, Mike Jr, Nicki, and JT; and great-grandmother Emma, Bear, Rylie, Milo, Macy, and Violet. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson Warner Thomas.

A Memorial Service will be at a later date in Park Ridge. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, http://www.stjude.org or Evans Scholars Foundation, http://www.wgaesf.org.

She will be greatly missed by our class. For many years she was a reunion organizer and an administrator of this web site. Typically, she signed her emails to classmates with "Hugs."

Even though I didn't know Posey well, I felt I did because she was such a warm, sparkling person, a bright light. She uplifted me and I'm sure many others as well by her beautiful smile, the sheer force of her personality and buoyant positive spirit, all of which still have a home in my heart. Thank you, Posey,

Gene Altman

My Condolences to Bill and her Family,

Posey was my forever friend she always remembered Birthday's, Anniversary's... (I will miss her "Little" handwriting on her cards.)  I have fond memories of our days together in High School.  When Dennis were married, she was my Bridemaid (Izzy too).  Whenever Dennis and I would come to Highland Park we always got together.  Posey was a friend in the truest sense of a friend.  She will be missed.

I have so many memories of Posey in my life from Edgewood, HPHS and beyond. Her recent years revealed that she was truly a warrior but she will be remembered for her open, warm heart. Too sad to write more except to remind us all to be like Posey in living a helpful, loving life.

Posey was a part of the "Chicago Five". Julie(Rubel) Deutsch, Nancy(Michaels)Patterson, Donna(Gheradini)Moore and me Susan (Schnadig) Belgrad. We met for dinner every few weeks from May thru October. We shared food and wine, laughs and family stories. Now we share heartache at the loss of dear Posey. Her courage and strength coupled with her kindness and positivity set a high standard for all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and frequently toasted for the person she was and the example she set!

Posey was a hero, an example of strength facing adversity, a genuinly positive example for all who knew her.  She was my personal DWTS (Dancing with the Stars) buddy for years.  She was wife, friend, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She has entered all of our collective memories.

Posey was such a upbeat and lovely being. She made every meeting with her a pleasure. I'm sorry she had to suffer so much, but she did it quietly and with dignity. I know her loving family is missing her so much, as we all are. Many blessings to them and to Posey wherever you are. With love, Penny Weisskopf
