David passed away Oct. 16, 2018. His career was in sales for Chicago Medical Supply and he lived in Northbrook. A cheery extrovert who loved to relate anecdotes, he was known affectionately to many of our classmates as Little Duals. David indeed was short in stature, but the nickname was derived from older brother Frank, called Duals because he drove a giant ‘50s sedan with dual exhaust pipes. David, in contrast, had a lifelong fascination less with autos and more with railroads.
Occasionally he cut a class at University of Indiana in order to watch trains go by. While in high school he was known to race trains north to Lake Forest and back again. Passion for cooking and travel merged with railroads when his boss owned a private railroad car, and David in chef's hat and white jacket delightedly cooked for business guests.
Surviving are his wife of almost 47 years, Diane; nieces Beth (Bart) Foster and Susan Cornelo; nephew Greg Conley; and five great nieces and nephews. Pastor Suzan Hawkinson said that David, who appreciated "moment and movement," believed that "life was a journey to be enjoyed." And during that celebration of his life on Oct. 20, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church in Deerfield, the mourners heard sounds of a train passing through town.

David, at age 11, was my firsst boy scout buddy. Together we fulfilled a merit badge requirement for our first "sleep out" in his parents back yard in a WWI surplus pup tent. We were lulled to sleep by the pitter patter of rain drops only to be awakened by the rising water in our sleeping bags. From that time forward, my life has been rejuvenated by such wonderful experiences. I salute Little Duals for introducing me to mother nature.

God Bless and keep David Conley. Although at HPHS we ran in different circles, Dave and I ran into each other and use to laugh together. He was quite the character and a genuinely nice guy,

I was so sorry to read that David had passed away. He and I met in thurd grade at Bannockburn Elementary School and became good buddies getting into all kinds of trouble- but we were following the example of our older brothers Hurdy and Mike! I remember the 57 Chevy Little Duals had and we snuck out and raced it on the yet to be opened Tri State Tollway! We too it all the way up to close to the Gurney exit and were very pleased to avoid being caught!
Dave was a special person with a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. I unfortunately lost track of him after graduation from HPHS and didnt see him at the last reunion I attended. Nonetheless, his life touched so many in a psotive way and his memory will remain strong in all who had the pleasure and privledge of knowing him. Blessings to his family and a special prayer for God to keep him out of trouble in Heaven!Rest in Peace "Little Duals".

I want to wish the family of David Conley my Deepest Sympathies for the Passing of Dave.
I am so sorry I missed his passing and feel bad to lose another winner of our class of 59.
Dave and I were of opposite personalities but for some strange reason we became good friends and many times in the lunchroom, Dave and I would sit at the same table. I remember a few times I started throwing rolls at certain Girls that were in the lunchroom, Dave would crack up, he had a great sense of humor. Then, much to my surprise, conservative Dave started heaving his rolls at people, and of course, no one suspected him. He thought that was hilarious. I can still see his face, he was a very cool guy. I know his friends and family felt a huge void when Dave passed, he was a guy who just permeated the people around him.
