Geoffrey Hanson

Geoffrey Conger Hanson passed away peacefully on September 25, 2018 in Medford, OR. Jeff was born on January 31, 1941 in Evanston, Illinois, the first child and only son of Betty and Victor Hanson Jr. of Deerfield, Illinois, and Tucson, Arizona. In 1950 the family moved to Deerfield, Illinois, where he attended school. He later studied at Butler University in Indiana and graduated with a business degree. Jeff loved watching and participating in sports: he played baseball, football and golf. He was a gifted golfer and won several competitions. He also loved fishing, a passion he shared with his dad. His parents and two sisters moved to Tucson in 1963 and Jeff moved there in 1964, working in the Tucson vicinity. In 1985 he married Phyllis Cohn, his wife of 33 years, and was very close to his wife's children and a wonderful grandfather to seven grandchildren. He and Phyllis lived mainly in CA (Dublin) and Mesquite, NV until her death in 2012; he then joined his stepdaughter Karen and her son Ben in Medford in 2015. He is survived by Karen Ferguson, Terri Kurtz, and David Cyprian, and grandchildren: Brian Kurtz, Sara Goodwin, Bonnie Goodwin, Benjamin Guerra, Nathan Cyprian, Phillip Cyprian, Jacob Cyprian; as well as his three sisters: Beverly Radford of Three Lakes, WI; Charlotte Jacob-Hanson of Bad Soden, Germany; and Elizabeth Money of Kiawah, SC. The family has made private funeral arrangements, and asks that any donations in Jeff's name be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org ) or by mail to the ACS, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
