In Memory

Peter Levy

Peter Levy

Peter John Levy, 82, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 18, 2023. Born in Chicago in 1941, Peter was raised in Highland Park near the shores of Lake Michigan, and was a proud Eagle Scout. He began his career in commercial lending in the 1960's in Chicago, where he met and fell in love with his wife on the job, working as part of the "Saturday Crew". Expanding his company's national footprint brought Peter to Dallas in the early 1970's, and over the decades he developed an impeccable reputation as an honest and trustworthy business partner. An avid traveler, he enjoyed vacations with his family to national parks around the country and destinations around the world. He loved wildlife, collecting wristwatches, and was very happy when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.

Although he had an illustrious career in finance, Peter would most like to be remembered as:

A loving son to Dagmar and Marshall;

A good brother to Tony, Mike and Dan;

A wonderful husband to Barbara, his wife of 57 years;

A caring father to his children, Nancy Shanks and her husband Jason, and Michael and his wife Lisa;

And a beloved "Papa Pizza" to his granddaughters, Ellie and Amelia.

A memorial service was held at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas in Stern Chapel on Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m.

Peter was clever and funny and oh so tall.  No wonder he had such a loving family and a good life!

I remember going to the movies at the ?Elysian theater, and Peter was ahead of me in line.   We were at the age when we got a lower rate as a child.   Peter was having to show an ID to prove his age,.   I, tall for a girl, did not have to prove my age!    Kirie
